Captain Rodney Walker serves as the Commander of the Special Community Anti-Crime Team and Community Policing Unit. Captain Rodney Walker started his law enforcement career in August 1993 as a deputy at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Captain Walker became a member of the S.C.A.T. Team in 1994. He worked his way through the ranks and was promoted to Captain in 2007. He has also served as a member of the Crisis Response Team (CRT) for nine years. Captain Walker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Justice Administration.

 

Special Community Anti-Crime Team
The S.C.A.T. Team consists of twelve highly trained and motivated deputies. The S.C.A.T. Team is a Street Crimes/Community Policing Division that provides proactive law enforcement patrols and investigations in East Baton Rouge Parish. The Division is involved in patrolling high crime areas, community policing initiatives, traffic enforcement, and operations that may include covert as well as overt enforcement operations targeting suspected gang problems, prostitution, street level sources of illegal drugs and weapons. The division is responsible for attending community meetings, identifying major problems of crime and disorder in the community, collecting and analyzing information from a variety of public and private resources, coordinating with other agencies and public to tailor actions suitable to community problems, and evaluating the effectiveness of those actions to determine if the problems were alleviated or minimized.
