EBRSO Jury Duty Scam



The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office DOES NOT call prospective jurors or ask for personal identification information or money to pay fines over the phone
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Offices would like to warn citizens of a jury duty phone scam.

According to reports, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is currently working multiple cases in which a caller poses as a Sheriff’s Deputy, or other law enforcement officer and tells the victim that he or she has missed Federal jury duty and can avoid arrest by paying a fine. The caller then provides the victim with the address to The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Headquarters in an attempt to make the scam appear credible. Upon arrival, the caller tells the victim to stay in their vehicle and provide the account number to a previously purchased Green Dot card.( Purchased and loaded with funds from the victim)
