EBRSO Arrests Man in Sunday Homicide

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s detectives arrested a man today responsible for shooting and killing one man and seriously injuring another on the night of February 18th at approximately 9:35.


Jermey Kendell Brown, 34, of 10717 Clearview Avenue is charged with First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Illegal Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.


EBRSO Detectives responded to the shooting Sunday evening and found Tr’markus Taylor, 20, of 10642 Timberland dead in the roadway from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. A second victim, a 37-year-old man drove himself to the hospital with serious injuries.


The surviving victim told detectives that he was able to disarm the shooter during the incident and stashed narcotics and the firearm before he drove to the hospital. The surviving man told detectives that he and Taylor were in Taylor’s vehicle when they went to meet Brown after he called Taylor on his phone. The two men pulled up next to a van when Brown entered Taylor’s car and allegedly shot both men. According to witnesses, Brown and Taylor were at odds over a previous narcotics transaction.  


This afternoon EBRSO Homicide Detectives along with Uniform Patrol located Brown in the 3700 block of Harding Blvd. Brown will be booked into parish prison on the above listed charges.
