SDTF Arrests Student with Gun at McKinley High School

The School Drug Task Force responded to McKinley High School located at 800 E. McKinley St. at approximately 8:55 a.m. in reference to a gun found in the book sack of an 11th grade student.

Owen Salgado Galo, 17, of 8220 Governor Dr. was booked into the Parish Prison for Illegal Carrying of a Weapon on School Property and Obliterated Serial Number.
According to reports, Galo was involved with a fight with another student at the bus stop. Once he arrived on campus, administrators searched both the involved parties and found a loaded .380 handgun in Galo’s book sack.

Galo alleged he did not know where the weapon came from. No threats were made that deputies are aware of.
