Incident: 3 cts Felony Theft-$6,889.99; 2 Issuing Worthless Check Warrants--$3,092.98

On July 6, 2006, Det. Kemp of the Financial Crimes Division arrested James Pete Smith of Baton Rouge. Smith, was arrested at his residence for a number of Criminal Violation which are listed above, as well as 6 Contempt of Court Traffic Warrants. Upon further investigation of Smith, at his residence Detectives learned that Smith was in possession of several boxes that were addressed to persons and business other than himself. A private shipping company indicated that Smith was one of there contract drivers, and the packages had been reported missing. Smith was transported to the E. Baton Rouge Parish Prison and there booked on the listed charges. It may be noted that Smith is still under investigation for the reported missing packages that was found in his possession.

Incident: Narcotics Arrest and Loitering

Incident Date: 7-6-2006

On 7-6-06, Deputies with the S.C.A.T. Division conducted patrols in the Gardere and Glen Oaks area. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

1. Debra Roiger - (Female 39) - Arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. (Victoria Trailer Park)

2. Clegg Jackson - (Male 45) - Arrested for Loitering & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. (Victoria Trailer Park)

3. Elvis Camper - (Male 41) - Arrested for Loitering & Possession of Marijuana.

Deputies seized approx. 14.5 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $72.50 dollars. Deputies also seized two crack cocaine smoking devices.

Burglary at 13555 Old Hammond Hwy. location of the Winn Dixie Market Place Store. On 7-7-2006 at approximately 3:10 am, Deputies responded to an alarm at the store. Dy's observed the glass to the front door was broken out. An ashtray located in front of the store was used to break the glass. An unknown amount of cigarettes and liquor were taken. Dy. Burglary at 10974 Joor Rd. location of the Winn Dixie Market Place Store. On 7-7-2006 at approximately 2:52 am, Deputies responded to an alarm at the store. Dy's discovered the lower section of glass to the front door had been shattered. No items were reported missing. Cpl. Curtin is investigating the incident under file # 06-44484. Simple Arson in the 22000 block of Treakle. On 7-6-2006 at approximately 7:15 pm, Dy. Abernathy responded to the prior listed address in reference to a disturbance. Dy. Abernathy observed members of the Zachary Fire Dept. putting out a fire that was set to a storage shed. Witnesses advised the Deputy, the fire was set by Harold Jackson, b/m, 57 years of age. Jackson was arrested for simple arson and booked into the parish prison. Dy. Abernathy investigated the incident under file # 06-44412.

Incident: Armed Robbery and Felony Theft

Armed Robbery and Felony Theft in 5000 block of Parkview Church Rd. The victim received a call from a person known to the victim as David Barton. The victim and Barton were together until Barton took the victim to the prior listed address, there the victim was robbed by Barton of approximately $ 400.00 dollars in cash. Barton used a baseball bat to commit the crime. David Barton, b/m, 18 years of age was arrested by Dy. J. Washington and booked into the parish prison. Dy. Washingtons investigation is being conducted under file # 06-44482.

On July 5,2006 Financial Crimes Detectives responded to a local Credit Union, when personnel detained Michael Johnson; Christera Holten and Patrick Rogers all of Baton Rouge.

According to the local Credit Union, Johnson, Holten and Rogers were opening new accounts and immediately began depositing checks written on closed accounts written by other suspects. The checks were deposited into there new accounts through a local Credit Union Service Center, then the three would travel to different branches of the Credit Union to withdraw the funds. At this time the Credit Union is suffering a loss of $8,700.00

Johnson, Holten and Rogers were transported to the E. Baton Rouge Parish Prison and there booked on the listed charges.

On July 6, 2006 Lt. St.Pierre arrested Jeanette McRight of Baton Rouge who is a CPA and office manager of a local Baton Rouge area Medical Clinic. McRight surrendered herself to the Financial Crimes Division in regards to the affidavit arrest warrant. The arrest warrant was issued after she fraudulently completed a medical records form in which she forged the signature of another person. McRight was transported to the E.Baton Rouge Parish Prison and there booked on the listed charge.

On July 6, 2006, Alicia R. Cyrus was arrested by Det. Robinson of the Financial Crimes Divison. Through ivestigative means Cyrus was located in Lafayette, La. and was advised of the pending charges.

Cyrus, while working for a local business in E. Baton Rouge Parish, used the business credit card to make numerous personal and unauthorized purchases. Cyrus created a loss of $15,930.74 to the local business. Cyrus was transported to the E. Baton Rouge Parish Prison and there booked on the listed charges.

On July 5th 2006 Amanda Martin of Baton Rouge was arrested by Det. Robinson of the Financial Crimes Division, after receiving a complaint from a local financial institution. Martin inflated her personal checking account using checks belonging to her closed account from another financial institution. Martin then withdrew funds creating a $1,484.48 loss to her financial institution. She was transported to the E. Baton Rouge Parish Prison and there Booked on the listed charges.

Burglary at 5235 Essen Ln. location of Benny's Car Wash. On 7-6-2006 at approximately 2:19 am, Dy's responded to an alarm at the prior listed location. Dy's noted the glass to the back door was broken out. No items appeared to be missing from the carwash. A witness observed an h/m medium build, wearing dark clothes run from the carwash. Dy. Darensbourg and Det. Lt. Blackwell investigating incident under file # 06-44269. Attempted Burglary at 7015 Hanks Dr. the location of Candy Land Snowball Stand.

On 7-5-2006 at approximately 3:47 pm, a witness observed 4 b/m's attempting to break into the snowball stand. The suspects apearntly observed the witness and fled the area after opening one of two doors to the business. Deputies located the b/m's and discovered the subjects were all juveniles. Deputies arrested the four juveniles who range in age from 13 to 16 years.

On June 29, 2006, Det. Thompson of the Financial Crimes Division arrested Corbin Cherelle Beauchamp for allowing her boyfriend, Quantrell Goudy (who was arrested on June 27,2006 on the same charges) to use her fathers credit card. Beauchamp stated she forgot to get the card back from Goudy. According to the credit card statements, in a time perion of about 2 weeks the total amount charged was $4, 498.28.

Beauchamp was transported to the E. Baton Rouge Parish Prison and booked on the above charges.

On June 30,2006 Calvin Louis Young was arrested by Financial Crimes Division while conducting an ongoing investigation. Det Bienvenu transported Young to the E.Baton Rouge Parish Prison and there booked him on the listed charges.

Continuing their follow-up investigation into stolen vehicles used to perpetrate burglaries in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area, Sheriff's Office Auto Theft Detectives, on June 30, 2006, added criminal charges of 2 cts. Simple Burglary and 2 cts. Felony Theft to one Robert Wayne Christopher, black male, DOB: 10/14/1971 of 3130 Lorraine St., Baton Rouge, La. These charges stemmed from the theft of a 1999 Ford van on June 17, 2006, from 3650 Hwy. 19, Zachary, La. (file# 06-39559) and a 2003 Ford F250 pickup truck taken from 15524 Airline Hwy. on June 12, 2006 (file# 06-38334).

Both vehicles were recovered and returned to their owners. Charges were added to Christopher who was already incarcerated at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, charged with the burglaries of area businesses in which the vehicles were used.

The investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected.

Incident: Bank Fraud; Monetary Instrument Abuse; Felony Theft-$10,737.20

On June 30, 2006, Det. Steven Kemp, arrested Cliff Adam Guerra, an independant accountant for Bank Fraud; Monetary Instrument Abuse; Felony Theft in the amount of $10,737.20. Guerra open an account at a local financial institution, depositing a check drawn from another financial institution in New York, from a business account of an LLC in the amount of $230,375.00. The local financial institution verified that the check was "good" and Guerra had made several purchases from the account totaling $10,737.20, before the check was discovered to have been altered or modified from it's original form. The original signer of the check was contacted and stated the check had been stolen from the mail. The financial institution took a loss of $10,737.20 plus fees. total loss, $12,162.85. Guerra was booked on the above charges.

On June 30, 2006, Alisha Bell was arrested by Det Robinson of the Financial Crimes Division after receiving two compaints that Bell, inflated two personal checking accounts at two financial institution using fraudulent checks then withdrew the funds creating a $11,234.20 loss to these financial institutions, within East Baton Rouge Parish.

Det Robinson transported Bell to the Parish Prison, where she was booked on the listed charges.

On July 4, 2006, Deputy C. Henry responded to 15580 George O'neal Road #1235 to investigate a complaint of domestic abuse battery. Upon arrival, Dy. Henry was contacted by a male victim who resides in the apartment. The victim had been stabbed once and struck with a lamp by his girlfriend, who also resides in the apartment. After investigating the complaint, Dy. Henry determined that sufficient probable cause was present to arrest Aimee A. Wilt, w/f, DOB 11/12/1977 for the crimes of 2cts Aggravated Battery, 1ct Domestic Abuse Battery and 1ct Simple Criminal Damage to Property. Ms. Wilt was placed at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff Detectives are currently investigating a missing person's complaint involving Mr. Henry Johnson, B/M, DOB 07/04/1931, 4735 Maribel Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Johnson was last seen at approximately 09:00am on July 3, 2006, in the parking lot of Foley's Department Store, located at the Mall Of Louisiana. Mr. Johnson is accompanied by his three-year-old grandson, Kyree Davis. Mr. Johnson was operating a white Ford king cab pick-up truck bearing Louisiana license plate W246 363. Mr. Johnson is medically dependant upon medication and may have become disoriented. Incident: Armed Robbery

On July 3, 2006, an armed robbery occurred at 11560 Plank Rd., the location of Slaton's Gun-Smithing. At approximately 12:10pm this date, four black male subjects, armed with handguns, entered the business and committed the robbery. The suspects fled the area in the victim's stolen 1995 Ford Taurus. The vehicle was recovered at the intersection of St. Peters St. and St. Ann Street. Persons with information regarding this investigation are asked to call 389-5000.

Conducting a follow-up investigation into three (3) residential burglaries occurring on Montreal Dr., reported under EBRSO file #'s 06-42619, 06-28087 and 06-28099, Sgt. Ken Jackson and Cpl. Brent Travis of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division (A.R.A.B.), on 6/30/2006, arrested one D'Orsay Marquis Jones, black male, DOB: 6/23/89 of 3114 Toronto Dr.

During the course of the investigation, Detectives recovered assorted jewelry, a laptop computer and suspected marijuana and cocaine. Jones was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the aforementioned charges.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.
