Attempt First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Burglary and Theft of a Firearm in the 3000 block of O'Neal Ln. On 5/24/07 at approximately 4:35pm, Deputies responded to the prior listed location in reference to the burglary of a residence where shots were exchanged by the homeowner and the burglary suspects. Dy. S. Hayward arrived on scene and began the initial investigation. The victim arrived home and observed four B/M subjects inside and outside of their residence. The victim confronted one of the subjects, after a brief struggle the victim armed themselves with a handgun. One of the suspects located in the living room pointed a handgun at the homeowner and fired the weapon. The Homeowner returned fire, the suspects fled the residence, one of the suspects appeared to have been hit and was limping down the alley behind the apartments. The subjects gained entry into the residence by breaking out a section of glass located on the rear door of the residence. The homeowner was not injured during this incident. Detectives from the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division arrived on scene and assumed control of the investigation. Detective L. Cavalier responded to a local hospital in reference to a report of a gunshot victim at the ER with a gunshot wound to the leg. The physical description matched the description of the subject that fled the residence after being fired upon by the victim. Detectives along with uniform patrol Deputies from Kleinpeter Substation arrested the following subjects for the abovementioned charges: (1) Lazaar Alexis 22-year-old B/M (2) David Chavis 18-year-old B/M (3) Brian Chavis 18-year-old B/M (4)14-year-old B/M juvenile. The juvenile was also charged with Theft of a Firearm and Aggravated Burglary stemming from prior burglaries committed by the juvenile. The subjects were processed and transported to the parish prison and juvenile detention accordingly. Dy. S. Attempt Second Degree Murder in the 1800 block of Jasper Ave. On 5-23-2007 at approximately 11:00pm, Sgt. D. Arcediano was dispatched to the prior listed location in reference to a vehicle being struck by gunfire. The victim was traveling down Jasper Ave at approximately 11:00pm, driving a Burgundy 2005 Pontiac Grand AM when some unknown person or person's opened fire at the victim's vehicle. The vehicle was struck on the driver's side door; the rear driver's side door and trunk were also hit. The victim was not injured. Detectives and Sgt. Arcediano are in the initial stages of this investigation. Detectives are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the person or persons responsible for this incident. Sgt. D. Arcediano and Det. L. Cavalier are investigating this incident under file # 07-33832. On 05/04/2007, Auto Theft Detectives received information that a G.M.C. Yukon was located at 20541 Watson Dr., Zachary La. 70791, and may be stolen. Detectives went to the address and located a 2003 G.M.C. Yukon parked in the backyard of the residence. After investigating, detectives were able to confirm that the vehicle was reported stolen from Woodruff County, Arkansas on a previous date.

Detectives obtained a search warrant to search the premises at 20541 Watson Dr. and subsequently located a 2001 Honda four wheeler on the property. Detectives confirmed that this four wheeler was also reported stolen from Woodruff County, Arkansas.

On 05/16/2007, Sgt.Billy Welborn issued an arrest warrant accusing Dannie Ray Hodge Jr., w/m, d.o.b. 08/29/1974, Address:7333 River Pointe Dr. Apt.6, Maumelle Arkansas, of violating L.R.S. 14:69 titled Illegal Possession Of Stolen Things. Hodges mother lives at the residence on Watson Dr. and he is known to visit there on occasions.

On May 21, 2007, Cpl. Brent Travis and Cpl. Stephen Hill with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, arrested Brandon S. Herbert (W/M, Dob:6/26/83 of 3432 Bird Heights, Addis, La.), for a residential burglary that occurred at 8960 Highland Rd. on April 4, 2007, reported under EBRSO file # 07-21590. Cpl. Travis was able to identify Herbert during the investigation and recover a stolen lap top computer. Detectives charged Herbert with Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, Felony Theft, and Criminal Damage to Property. Cpl. Travis added these charges to Herbert as he was incarcerated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on unrelated charges.

On May 21, 2007, Cpl. Brent Travis and Cpl. Stephen Hill with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, arrested Carla Jerrell (B/F, Dob: 10/24/83 of 6626 McCelland Apt# 7), for two counts of theft. During the investigation Cpl. Travis found that Jerrell had stolen several items of jewelry from 7045 Villere Dr., Baker, La. and then pawned the jewelry at City Pawn located at 5208 Plank Rd. and Penny Pincher Pawn located at 5025 Hollywood St. Detectives recovered the stolen jewelry and released it back to the owner. Jerrell was charged with two (2) counts of theft under EBRSO file numbers 07-28649 and 07-28650. Jerrell was also charged by Sgt. Bertrand of the Uniform Patrol Division for the original theft charge.

Aggravated Assault with Firearm/Illegal Use of a Weapon at 8216 Governor Dr. On 5-

19-2007 at approximately 9:00pm, Deputies responded to the prior listed location in reference to a family disturbance. The victim advised Dy. S. Williams that a verbal argument had taken place between the victim and the victim's husband. During the course of the argument, the husband retrieved a black semi-auto handgun and fired a single round into the bedroom floor. The victim's 1-year-old child was lying on the floor several feet from where the round was fired. No one was injured. The victim picked up the child and dialed 911. The husband fled the residence prior to Deputies arrival. On 5-20-2007 the husband surrendered to Deputies at Burbank Substation. Dy. S. Williams arrested Christopher LeJeune 27-year-old W/M for the prior listed charges. LeJeune was processed and booked into the parish prison for the previous listed offenses. Dy. S. Williams investigated this incident under file # 07-32939.
