Incident: Narcotics Arrest and Traffic Enforcement

Location: Gardere Lane, Glen Oaks, Orleans and Southpark Areas

On 1/25/07, Deputies with the S.C.A.T. Team, Armed Robbery and Burglary and Narcotics Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Gardere, Southpark, Orleans and Glen Oaks areas. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

1. Willard Thornton - (Male 24) - Arrested for Drinking in a Motor Vehicle, Loud Music and No Light on License Plate.

2. Ursula Wilson - (Female 26) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Failure to Signal Turn.

3. Tiffany Miley - (Female 22) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

4. Donjarell Rivet - (Male 30) - Cited for Improper Display of a License Plate.

5.Trenton Payne - (Male 28) - Cited for Improper Lane Usage ( 2 Cts.) and No Driver's License.

6. Quantrell Toney - (Male 28) - Cited for No Brake Lights.

7. Taurey Brown - (Male 30) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana, No Taillights, Improper Display of a License Plate and No Driver's License.

8. Tjuondre Payne - (Male 20) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

9. Todd Belton - (Male 29) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

10. Jeffery Harris - (Male 25) - Arrested for Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Battery on a Police Officer ( 2 Cts.), Resisting an Officer and Issuing Worthless Checks (warrant).

11. Derek Smith - (Male 29) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

12. Bryan Taylor - (Male 28) - Cited for Failure to Signal Turn.

Deputies seized approx. 118.7 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $593.50. Deputies also seized one Smith & Wesson .45 caliber handgun with a street value of $500.00.

On Wednesday, January 24, 2007, the Narcotics division concluded an investigation that led to the seizure of approximately three and half ounces of cocaine, a Mac nine-sub machine gun, an AR-15 assault rifle, a twelve-gauge pump shotgun, a nine-millimeter handgun, and $80,898.00 in drug proceeds. The drugs seized in this matter have an approximate street value of $9,700.00. As a result of this investigation, Davis Lee Roy (B/M 11/14/1974) was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm While possessing CDS, Possession with intent to distribute Cocaine, and Contributing to the delinquency of a Juvenile.

Incident: Bank Fraud, Identity Theft, & Theft of Utilities

While investigating a report of a stolen checkbook, Detectives with the Financial Crimes division determined that several individuals were involved and that the checks were used during the commission of other crimes. The investigation revealed that Derek Jones (B/M, 33 years old) cashed five of the stolen checks for over $2,000.00. He gave two checks to his roommates at 13978 Northgate Dr.

The roommates, Spencer George (B/M, 46) and Tarsha Clark (B/F, 35 years old), used those checks to pay bills at the house. Det. Thompson discovered that the bills paid were for Cox Communications and Entergy and that both of those accounts were set up using stolen identities.

Derek Jones was arrested for Bank Fraud, Forgery, & Theft. Spencer George was arrested for Forgery, Access Device Fraud, & Theft. Tarsha Clark was arrested for Identity Theft, Access Device Fraud, & Theft of Utilities.

Incident: Assault by Drive-by Shooting and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property

Assault by Drive-by Shooting and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property in the 5000 block of Landis. On 1-24-2007 at approximately 12:08am, Deputies responded to the prior listed location in reference to shots being fired. Dy. J. Jackson along with responding Deputies observed several bullet holes inside and outside of the residence. No one was injured during this incident. The occupants of the residence were asleep or in another part of the house at the time of the shooting. Dy. J. Jackson investigated this incident under file # 07-004969. On 1/23/07, Deputies with the S.C.A.T. Team and Armed Robbery and Burglary Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Scotlandville area. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

1. Wendell Butler - (Male 47) - Arrested for P.W.I.T.D. Schedule II (Lortab), Possession of Cocaine and Resisting an Officer.

2. Noah Burrell - (Male 30) - Cited for No Light on License Plate.

3. Eshomb Singleton - (Male 23) - Cited for Failure to Signal Turn.

Deputies seized approx. 22.6 grams of suspected cocaine with a street value of $2,260.00. Deputies also seized ten suspected Lortab pills with a street value of $200.00.

Mona Baxter (W/F, 40 years old), the former office manager of Client Service Technologies, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of an Access Device as Theft. Baxter used her employer's credit card to make over $10,000.00 in purchases for her personal expenses.

On January 23, 2007, Cpl. Brent Travis and Det. Willie Stewart with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery And Burglary Division, arrested Joseph Fisher (b/m, Dob: 1/2/73 of 1753 Starboard), for Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and Forgery. Fisher tried to cash a stolen check that was stolen out of a vehicle burglary that occurred on December 23, 2006, at 8627 Myrtlelake, reported under EBRSO file #06-85256. Fisher was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the above listed charges.

Incident: Burglary and Felony Theft

Burglary and Felony Theft at 12181 Greenwell Springs Rd. location of Jerry Lees Kwik Stop. On 1-22-2007 at approximately 11:45pm, Deputies responded to the prior listed location in reference to an alarm. Deputy B. Dietrich arrived on scene and observed a 1996 White Buick Skylark parked in front of the store. The Buick sped off after a B/M subject entered the vehicle on the passenger side of it. Dy. Dietrich along with responding Deputies from Central and Scotlandville Substations pursued the vehicle until the occupants pulled into an empty lot in the 1600 block of 48 Street. The occupants fled on foot. Deputies arrested one of the B/M's identified as Anthony Evans 34 years of age. Deputies also recovered approximately 30 cartons of cigarettes stolen from the store. There was no reported accidents or damage during the pursuit of the suspects. Deputies noted damage to the front glass door of the business. A representative from the store advised Deputies that an unknown quantity of cigarettes was taken from the store. Detective J. Dipuma with the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division assisted with the investigation. Det. Dipuma is asking the publics assistance with the location of the suspected driver of the Buick identified as Lucien Tolbert B/M 30 years of age 5'11"inches tall approximately 165 pounds. Tolbert is known to frequent the Beech Street area. Anthony Evans was booked into the parish prison for the above listed charges along with Felony Criminal Damage to Property and Resisting Arrest. Dy. Dietrich and Det. Dipuma investigated this incident under file # 07-004790. On Sunday, January 22, 2007, at approximately 0029 hours, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Deputies responded to Noah's Pets, 15560 Tigerbend Rd., in reference to a burglary in progress. Deputies observed a vehicle leaving Noah's and was subsequently stopped. The occupants, Richard Wesley Morris(black male, dob: 3/3/1984, 305 Woodcliff Dr), Michael Murphy (white male, dob: 12/19/1987, 1269 Lakemont Dr) were arrested for the aforementioned attempt burglary, simple criminal damage to property, and possession of marijuana, EBRSO case file #07-4549.

During the course of the investigation Detectives learned that on, Sunday, December 10,2006, Michael Murphy, along with Yordani Rodrigo Lazo-Figueredo (Cuban male, dob: 5/22/1987, 862 W. Versailles Dr) committed a burglary of Noah's Pets located at 15560 Tigerbend Rd. The two of them stole animals, reptiles, and cages; EBRSO case file #06-82156. Murphy and Lazo-Figueredo were arrested for this burglary.

Detectives recovered the animals from Lazo-Figueredo's residence and the reptiles from Beverly Jean Johnson (Black female, dob: 3/12/1977) residence located at 1076 Manson Dr. Apt "B." Johnson was arrested for illegal possession of stolen things, Possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, Possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, and a bench warrant for No seat belt.

The animals, reptiles, and cages were returned to Noah's Pets.
