Incident: 2nd Degree Murder

2nd Degree Murder at 16640 Florida Blvd. location of Slippery Pete's. On 11-17-2006 at approximately 11:50pm, Deputies were dispatched to this location in reference to a subject refusing to leave the premises. Deputies were advised upon their arrival that a person had been shot near the rear of the building. Deputies observed the victim lying on the ground with what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the victim's midsection. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his wounds. Witnesses provided Deputies with a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. Deputies identified the accused as Kyle D. Spring w/m 37 years of age Denham Springs La. address. Detective's Lewis and Morris were advised that the victim did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Det's applied for an Affidavit Warrant of arrest for Spring for 2nd Degree Murder. EBRSO Detectives along with Walker PD took the accused into custody without incident several hours later in Livingston Parish. The accused was booked into the Livingston Parish Prison and subsequently transferred to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was booked on the prior mentioned charges. Detectives Lewis and Morris are investigating this incident under file # 06-77220.

Incident: Narcotics Arrest and Traffic Enforcement

On 11/16/06, Deputies with the S.C.A.T. Team , Armed Robbery and Burglary , Detective and Narcotics Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Glen Oaks and Mall City areas. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

Glen Oaks:

1.Wendel Robinson – (Male 29) – Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and No Seatbelt.

2.Richard Devold – (Male 40) – Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

Mall City:

1. Totsheona Brown - (Female 18) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of a Minor.

2. Pamela Knighten - (Female 35) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of a Minor.

3. Taaka Brooks - (Female 29) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Illegal Use of CDS in the Presence of a Minor, Resisting an Officer, Profanity Prohibited and Disturbing the Peace.

Deputies seized approx. 76.4 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $382.00.

Incident: Suspicious Vehicle/Person

Detectives are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred in the 16000 block of Chadsford Ave in the Shenandoah neighborhood. At approximately 3:40pm, a juvenile was walking on Chadsford Ave when a black SUV or Van approached from behind. The van was occupied by two white males who appeared to be in their late teens. Both subjects began yelling at the juvenile, stating that the juvenile's mother was in the hospital and that the child needed to get in the vehicle with them. The juvenile became frightened and ran from the suspects; the suspects then left the area. The two suspects were described as having short brown hair and wearing dark sweat shirts with hoods. The vehicle was described as either a SUV or Van that was black with red printed lettering on the rear window and rear side windows. Persons with information regarding this investigation are asked to call 389-5000.

For the past couple of months Det's from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriffs Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division have been conducting a follow-up investigation into numerous vehicle burglaries occurring in the Siegen Lane and Perkins Rd. area. Through investigation and the help of local residents it was determined by Det's that the suspect was possibly a B/M, driving a white in color Ford Van.

On 11-07-2006, Baton Rouge Police Dept. uniformed officers arrested a one Herman Eugene Pierre, B/M, Dob: 06/10/1969, of 2910 Tecumseh St., Baton Rouge, La. while occupying his vehicle, a white Ford Astro Van. Pierre was arrested and charged by Baton Rouge Police Dets for several counts of Simple Burglary.

After contacting Pierre at the Parish Prison Det's from the EBR Sheriffs Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division were able to arrest Pierre and charge him with (11cts) Simple Burglary, (10cts) Theft, (6cts) Simple Criminal Damage To Property, (1ct) Simple Burglary Of An Inhabited Dwelling. The following cases were cleared due to the arrest, 06-46532, 06-46624, 06-46479, 06-46512, 06-71465, 06-72614, 06-72742, 06-1300007, 06-72453, 06-72533, 06-72617, and 06-61433. Investigation continues by Armed Robbery and Burglary Det's.

On November 09, 2006, Det. James Dipuma, Det. Willie Stewart, Cpl. Stephen Hill, Cpl. Brent Travis, Det. Steven Gallo jr. of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Section of the Detective Bureau, arrested the following persons for Possession of Schedule II drugs(Cocaine) at 3939 Victoria Drive Lot#06

Lawrence Marvin W/M DOB 12/12/1956

Michael Mayeur W/M 11/23/1954

Detectives were investigating the discovery, in a wooded area near this address, of stolen coin operated machines, when a witness advised that the resident of this address, "Mike", possibly knows the person who left the stolen items at this location. As detectives attempted to contact "Mike" several subjects who were standing outside ran into this residence. Detectives located "Crack Cocaine" on the above subjects and during a search of this residence Detectives located Charles Allen B/M DOB 11/21/1976 hiding on the floor next to the bed in the master bedroom. Detectives arrested Charles Allen for Simple Burglary and Felony Theft from the car wash located at 6831 Mickens Road reported under file# 06-73278.

This investigation also pertained to EBRSO file #'s 06-75310, 06-75311 and 06-75253.

On Thursday, November 9, 2006, Narcotics Division Detectives arrested Christopher Lynn (b/m 5/15/1983)and Brian Player (b/m 6/28/1984) for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana within East Baton Rouge Parish. Lynn was found to be in possession of 10.15 pounds of marijuana.

On 11/13/06, Deputies with the S.C.A.T.Team, Armed Robbery and Burglary and Narcotics Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Glen Oaks and Mall City areas. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

Mall City:

1. Carl McAlister - (Male 20)- Cited for No Seatbelt, Failure to Signal and No Driver's License.

2. Michael Marquette - (Male 20) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

3. Amanda Lee Bison - (Female 21) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

Glen Oaks:

1. Delisa Lashun Hickman - (Female 24) - Arrested for P.W.I.T.D. Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Failure to Yield to Left Turn (Bench Warrant) and Possession of Marijuana (Bench Warrant).

2. John Alfred Thompson III - (Male 27) - Arrested for Loitering and Possession of Cocaine.

Deputies seized approx. 207.7 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $1,038.50. Deputies also seized approx. 11.5 grams of suspected cocaine with a street value of $1,150.00.

On Thursday, November 2, 2006, the Narcotics Division concluded an investigation relative to the distribution of cocaine within East Baton Rouge Parish. The investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant in the 1100 block of Bruce Alley, Baton Rouge, LA, which yielded 2.5 ounces of cocaine, 2 ounces of marijuana, 1,169.7 grams of codeine, two firearms and $1,624.00 of drug proceeds. Four individuals were arrested in conjunction with this investigation: Kenyaka Decker (b/m 05/06/1975), Jamall Franklin (b/m 08/07/1987), Brandon Coleman (b/m 8/10/1979), Sylvester Wallace (b/m 12/16/1979), and Randale Franklin (b/m 5/9/1988).

Incident: LRS14:68.4 Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle

On November 13, 2006, Auto Theft Detectives were attempting to identify a Chevrolet Tahoe as a possible stolen vehicle at 1402 Mengal Road, when a newer model, silver in color Cadillac Deville pulled into Rays Salvage yard (1402 Mengal Road) displaying a Louisiana Temporary License plate. The Auto Salvage yard had been searched the previous week as part of an ongoing multi agency investigation and several stolen vehicles were located in the yard. The driver of the Cadillac was identified as Charles Davis (b/m 8-24-66, 11417 Stan Avenue). Davis was asked if Detectives could check his vehicle to ensure that it was not a stolen vehicle. Davis granted Detectives permission to inspect the vehicle. The public VIN number of the Cadillac appeared to have been tampered with so further investigation was done. During this investigation, the correct VIN for the vehicle was obtained and did not match the VIN displayed on the vehicle. The correct VIN was checked and it was learned that the vehicle, a 2005, silver in color, Cadilac Deville, had been reported as a stolen vehicle to the Slidell Police Department on 10-23-06, under their file number 06-102617. Davis was taken into custody and charged with L.R.S. 14:68.4 titled Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle as well as L.R.S. 14:207 titled Altering or Removal of Identifying Numbers Prohibited. Davis was then booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the aforementioned listed charges.

Incident: Armed Robbery and Attempt 1st. Degree Murder

Armed Robbery Attempt 1st. Degree Murder at 7746 Capistra. On 11-13-2006 at approximately 9:20pm, the victim stepped outside of their residence near the carport area when an unknown b/m subject armed with a shotgun approached the victim. The subject demanded the victim's money, the victim advised he had no money on his person. The subject fired a single round from the shotgun striking the victim. The subject fled the area; the victim proceeded to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The robber is described as a dark complexion b/m approximately 5'7" to 5'8" inches tall 160 to 180 pounds solid build wearing all dark clothing with a hood. Dy. P. Freeman and Detective Sgt. T. Morris are investigating this incident under file # 06-76295. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office at 225-389-5000. On 11/10/06, Deputies with the S.C.A.T.Team, Armed Robbery and Burglary and Narcotics Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Gardere and Cherry Hill areas. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

1. Martin Robertson - (Juvenile) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

2.Renaldo Hall - (Male 23) - Arrested for Drinking in a Motor Vehicle.

3. Derick Johnson - (Male 26) - Arrested for Possession of Schedule I (Ecstasy), Simple Battery (Warrant), Possession of Marijuana (Warrant), Switched MVIS (Warrant), No Driver's License (Warrant) and Mirrors Required (Warrant).

4. Elizabeth Street - (Female 27) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Failure to Signal Turn and Child Restraint Violation (2 counts).

5. Pernell Lanaute - (Male 19) - Arrested for P.W.I.T.D. Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, and Possession of Marijuana (2 Bench Warrants).

6. Kevin Anderson - (Male 24) - Arrested for Possession of a Firearm with CDS , Possession of Marijuana and a Bench Warrant for Juvenile Court.

Deputies seized approx. 52.4 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value $ 262.00 , approx. 13.5 grams of suspected cocaine with a street value of $1,350.00 and five (5) suspected ecstasy pills with a street value of $100.00. Deputies also seized one Taurus .45 caliber handgun with a street value of $300.00 and $218.00 in U.S.Currency.

On November 6, 2006, the Narcotics Division concluded an investigation relative to the distribution of marijuana within East Baton Rouge Parish. The investigation was completed when Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant in the 13000 block of Gentilly Court, Baton Rouge LA. The investigation resulted in the seizure of twenty-six pounds of marijuana, $2,164.00 of drug proceeds, and the arrest of Gregory Prestridge (w/m 05/06/1956).
