Incident: Carjacking

Carjacking at 6500 Greenwell St. location of Kings Meat Market. On 10-21-2006 at approximately 8:10pm, the victim drove up to Kings Meat Market in order to use the telephone. The victim exited his vehicle and was approached by a b/m subject. The b/m placed his hand in his right pocket pointing at the victim and advised the victim to give him some change. The victim advised the b/m subject that all the victim had was the vehicle, the b/m entered the vehicle and fled the area driving toward Airline Hwy. The victim was not injured. Sgt. J. Demoulin obtained the following description of the subject and vehicle. Deputies are looking for a b/m subject 6'1" inches tall approximately 175 pounds, medium complexion, bottom teeth were gold, wearing a black suede color jacket, white T-shirt and khaki pants. The subject fled the area in a 2006 Burnt Orange Chevrolet Cobalt 2Door bearing La. License plate 0NH941. Sgt. Demoulin investigated this incident under file #06-71022. Incident: Attempted Armed Robbery

Attempted Armed Robbery at 3057 O'Neal Lane. On 10-21-2006 at approximately 5:00 am, the victim was outside in the apartment complex when two b/m subjects approached the victim. The robbers demanded the victims money; the victim turned and fled the area. The robbers fled the area in an unknown direction without taking anything from the victim. The victim was unharmed. The b/m's are described as follows. The first b/m is described as 6'1" to 6'2" inches tall medium brown complexion wearing a brown shirt, blue jeans, green hat with a white and yellow bandana over his face armed with a black in color revolver. There is no description on the second subject at this time. Dy. J. Washington investigated this incident under file # 06-70951. Incident: Vehicle Fatality

Vehicle Fatality at 4500 N. Flannery Rd. On 10-21-2006 at approximately 7:03 am, Deputies responded to the prior listed location in reference to a three-car accident. Deputies from the Sheriffs Office Vehicle Fatality Team began their investigation into the accident. Deputies learned that the driver a 28-year-old w/f lost control of her Honda Accord while traveling north on Flannery Rd. The Accord crossed the centerline striking a Toyota Corolla driven by a 42-year-old w/f while traveling south on Flannery. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, which are not considered life threatening. The third vehicle received minor damage after it swerved to avoid the two car accident in front of it. No injuries were reported to the occupants of the third vehicle at this time. No charges have been file at this time, the accident is under investigation. Dy. Pelletier along with members of the fatality team are investigating this accident under file # 06-70893.

Incident: Armed Robbery

Armed Robbery at 8422 Christian Paul. On 10-21-2006 at approximately 2:32am, the victim was robbed at gunpoint by a young b/m subject wearing a red and white stripe shirt armed with a silver semi-auto handgun. The b/m took approximately $ 250.00 dollars in cash before fleeing the area. The robber with the handgun struck the victim. The victim received minor injuries. The b/f is described as 5'10" inches tall heavy build with light complexion. Dy. Carrier and Cpl. Hill are investigating this incident under file # 06-70862. Incident: Aggravated Battery

Aggravated Battery in the 8500 block of Greenwell Springs Rd. location of Greenway Billiards. On 10-20-2006 at approximately 9:00pm, Deputies were dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a male victim being struck in the face with a handgun. Deputy E. Fagot was advised by the victim that while at Greenway Billiards, he along with other patrons were observing a fight when he attempted to get a better view point. As the victim made his way through the crowd an unidentified person struck the victim in the face with a revolver. The revolver discharged causing powder burns to the victim's facial area. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The incident took place outside of the business in the parking lot. Dy. E. Fagot is investigating this incident under file # 06-70821. Incident: 1st Degree Vehicle Negligent Injury and Hit and Run

1st Degree Vehicle Negligent Injury and Hit and Run at 14716 Florida Blvd. On 10-20-2006 at approximately 5:31pm, Deputies responded to the previous listed address in regard to a 10-year-old male victim being struck by a Dodge Durango. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The injuries are non-life threatening. Deputies continued their investigation into this incident locating the vehicle at a residence on E. Bolivar. Deputies contacted the driver of the vehicle identified as Stephen Bachaleda 25 year old w/m. Bachaleda advised Deputies he observed two male juveniles walking on the side of the road when one of the males jumped in front of his vehicle. Bachaleda went on to state he checked on the juvenile, provided the juvenile his name and left. Bachaleda was arrested and booked into the parish prison for the prior listed charges. Dy. R. Incident: Illegal Use of a Weapon

Illegal Use of a Weapon at 3317 Grassy Lake Dr. On 10-20-2006 at approximately 6:00pm, Deputies were dispatched to the prior listed location in reference to a subject firing a weapon near a residence. Witnesses advised deputies that the person firing the weapon was David Vercher w/m 35 years of age. Deputies were advised during the course of their investigation that the accused was at a neighbor's residence but was now walking down the street. Deputies arrested the accused without incident. The accused advised Deputies he fired the weapon into the lake to stop a loud and speeding vehicle from traveling down the street. No damage or injuries were reported. The accused was transported and booked into the parish prison. Dy. J. Webb conducted the investigation under file # 06-70767.

Incident: Narcotics and Outstanding Warrant Arrest

On 10/19/06, Deputies with the S.C.A.T.Team, Armed Robbery and Burglary and Detective Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Mall City and Glen Oaks areas. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

Glen Oaks area:

1. Troy Anthony Johnson - (Male 31) - Arrested for Drinking in Public and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (Warrant).

2. Emmitt Floyd - (Male 33) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

Mall City Area:

1. Eric Reed - (Male 17) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Resisting an Officer.

2. Thomas Morgan - (Male 24) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Letting a Disorderly Place.

3. Charles Anthony Curtis - (Male 29) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana 2nd Offense (Warrant), No Insurance, No Driver's License and Failure To Signal Turn ( Traffic Warrants).

Deputies seized approx. 39.0 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $195.00.

Incident: 3 cts. Simple Burglary, 3 cts. Theft

On October 13, 2006, Cpl. S. Hill and Det. W. Stewart of the EBRSO Armed Robbery and Burglary Division arrested the following suspects for multiple burglaries of unlocked vehicles in the Shenandoah area: Stephen Nugent-Passmore W/M, D.O.B. 7-20-87, of 11902 Lake Lery Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, and Preston Kilian W/M, D.O.B. 10-25-85, of 16725 Merrimac Ave., Baton Rouge, LA. Those offenses were reported under EBRSO file numbers 06-66143, 06-66302 and 06-66416. Both were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison charged with 3 cts. Simple Burglary and 3 cts. Theft.

Incident: Narcotics Arrest and Traffic Enforcement

On 10/16/06, Deputies with the S.C.A.T.Team, Armed Robbery and Burglary and Narcotics Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Gardere area. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures:

1. Rodney Encalade Jr. - (Male 23) - Arrested for Loitering and Possession of Marijuana.

2. Neil Leflore - (Male 22) - Arrested for Loitering.

3. Mark Fernandez - (Male 27) - Arrested for Loitering.

4. Kelvin Bonton - (Male 35) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana , No Seatbelt and No Driver's License on Person.

5. Travys Jackson - (Male 21) - Cited for No Seatbelt, Expired Inspection Sticker and No Taillights.

Deputies seized approx. 68.9 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $344.50.
