Incident: False Personation of a Police Officer
False Personation of a Police Officer at 13921 Joor Rd location of Shell Service Station. On 9-23-2006 at approximately 10:03pm, the victim observed the accused identified as Judy Rutherford Humble w/f 53 years of age driving erratically on Sullivan and Joor Rd. The victim drove into the Shell Station where she was blocked in by the accused. The accused advised the victim she was a Police Officer presenting what appeared to be a badge. The accused would not allow the victim to enter the store or leave the parking lot. The victim notified Deputies of the incident. Dy. Freeman responded and investigated the disturbance. Dy. Freeman determined that the accused was not a Police Officer and was not employed by any agency. Witnesses at the station verified the victim's statements. The accused credentials were seized. The accused was booked for the prior listed offense. Dy. P. Freeman investigated this incident under file # 06-64211.
Incident: Burglary
Burglary at 17762 Old Scenic Hwy. Location of Magnolia Baptist Church. On 9-24-2006 at approximately 11:25am, Dy. Luckett responded to the prior listed location in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised Dy. Luckett that two AMPS were stolen from the church; the AMPS were last seen on 9-9-2006 at 12:30pm. Entry was gained into the church by way of a broken window located on the north side of the church. Dy. Luckett observed signs that the person or persons responsible for the burglary were injured from wounds caused by the broken glass. Dy. Luckett investigated this incident under file # 06-64309. Incident: Burglary
Burglary at 11120 Plank Rd. location of Baton Rouge Ministries. On 9-24-2006 at approximately 10:00am, Cpl. Washington responded to the prior listed location in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised Cpl. Washington that a number of tools including a sander, grinder and a table saw were stolen from the Ministry. The complainant advised the items were last seen on 9-23-2006 at 8:00pm and observed missing on 9-24-2006 at 10:00 am. Cpl. Washington observed no signs of forced entry into the building. Cpl. Incident: Poss. or Dealing in Unregistered Firearms and Machine Guns Unlawful
On 9/22/06 Deputies with the S.C.A.T. Division continued an ongoing investigation into the illegal street sale of firearms in the Glen Oaks area. The S.C.A.T. TEAM with assistance from the Sheriffs Office SWAT team arrested the following subject on weapons violations.
1. Tywin Alexander - (Male 21) - Arrested for Possession of a Nonregistered Firearm, Handling of Firearms Unlawful, Resisting an Officer, Simple Battery (bench warrant) and Simple Criminal Damage to Property (bench warrant).
Deputies seized one Tec-22 (.22 caliber) automatic handgun with a street value of $500.00.
Incident: Olive Garden Restaurant Shooting
On September 23, 2006, Detectives arrested Tracy Young,B/M, DOB, 11/26/77
for the Armed Robbery and Homicide that took place at the Olive Garden Restaurant,located at 6911 Seigen Lane on Sept. 8, 2006. Eyewitnesses positively identified Young as the shooter in the incident. Young was picked by witnesses from a photographic lineup. Young was charged booked into the Parish Prison and charged with First Degree Murder,Attempted First Degree Murder and Attempted Armed Robbery by use of a firearm,
The Sheriff's Office has obtained a warrant for the second person involved in the incident, Sanchez L. Brumfield, B/M, DOB, 10/13/84. Brumfield was identified by witnesses as the driver in the incident. Brumfield is currently at large, but is believed to be moving between the Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas with his girlfriend, Jennifer Mouton's, B/F, 21 years of age. Ms. Mouton is from the Lafayette area. Both individuals are believed to be traveling in Mouton's vehicle, a newer model black Hyundai with a temporary license tag. Brumfield is wanted for First Degree Murder,Attempted First Degree Murder and Attempted armed Robbery with use of a Firearm. His last known address is 10950 Darryl Drive.
Lafayette City Police and the U.S. Marshall's Office in Lafayette are assisting our office in attempting to locate Brumfield.
Incident: Shooting
Shooting in the 7000 block of Poinsettia. On 9-23-2006 at approximately 2:45am, Deputies responded to a local hospital in reference to a 28 year old b/m suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim advised Deputies that he was walking in the area of Flag and Poinsettia St. when a Green in color two door Mercury Cougar followed by an unidentified red vehicle passed him by, shortly thereafter the victim heard five gunshots ring out. The victim fled the area after hearing the shots and realizing he was wounded. The victim could not tell if the gunshots came from one of the two vehicles or from someone in the neighbor hood. Incident: UPDATE: Battery on a Police Officer
UPDATE: Battery on a Police Officer at 9270 Siegen Lane location of Spears Roofing Co. On 9-19-2006 a Sheriffs Deputy was serving civil documents at the prior listed location when the Deputy was attacked by a b/m at the business. Deputies identified the wanted subject as Carl Spears b/m 49 years of age. On 9-22-2006 Spears turned himself in to Deputies at Scotlandville Substation. Sgt. A. Stevens from Kleinpeter Substation charged and booked Spears into the parish prison for Battery on a Police Officer. Sgt. Stevens investigated the incident under file # 06-62990.
Incident: Armed Robbery
Armed Robbery in the 9000 block of Pecan Tree. On 9-23-2006 at approximately 1:05am the victims were entering their vehicle when a b/m appeared behind the victims presenting a silver and black semi-auto handgun. The b/m advised the victims to give him their money. The b/m took approximately $ 215.00 dollars in cash and a cell phone. The victims were instructed to walk away from their vehicle at which time the b/m fled the area on foot traveling toward Jade. The victims were not injured. The b/m is described as 5'9" inches tall thin build wearing a black hat with a grey and white shirt. Dy. M. Carrier investigated this incident under file # 06-63991. Incident: 3 Cts. Agg. Burg., 2 Cts. S/Burg. Inh. Dwell., Att.S/Burg., 5 Cts. Felony Theft
Update
Conducting a follow-up investigation into seven (7) residential burglaries occurring in the Village Cote Neighborhood, reported under EBRSO file #'s 06-42619, 06-28087, 06-28099, 06-28008, 06-28065, 06-40384 and 06-14399, Sgt. Ken Jackson and Sgt. Billy Welborn of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division (A.R.A.B.), on 9/20/2006, arrested one black male juvenile for five (5) of the residential burglaries and one attempted burglary. This suspect was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center for the aforementioned charges.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives recovered assorted jewelry, a laptop computer and suspected marijuana and cocaine. Detectives have previously arrested one juvenile and two adult males for their involvement in the these crimes.
Incident: Business Burglary
Detectives are investigating a burglary that occurred at 7930 Jefferson Hwy., the location of LaRouge Mart. At 2:23am, an unknown black male forced entry into the business and committed the burglary. After committing the burglary the black male fled the area. The black male is described as follows: black male, wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and a white baseball cap. Persons with information regarding this investigation are asked to call 389-5000.
Incident: Narcotics Seizure and Arrests
On Tuesday, September 19th, 2006, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division concluded an investigation relative to the distribution of marijuana within East Baton Rouge Parish. On this date the Narcotics along with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office SWAT team executed a search warrant at 5254 Longfellow Dr. #C, Baton Rouge, LA. The search warrant yielded approximately ten pounds of marijuana, $1,650.00 of drug proceeds, a fully loaded Mac 90 assault rifle, and drug paraphernalia. The following subjects were arrested in conjunction with this investigation:
Myron Emanual (B/M 06-24-1980) – Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Marijuana), Ill Carying Firearm Poss CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernal
Waymond Stovall (B/M 05-18-1978) – Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Marijuana), Ill Carying Firearm Poss CDS
Lar'y Brown (B/F 07-16-1985) – Principle to Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Marijuana)
Leslia Brooks (B/F 12-03-1985) – Principle to Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Marijuana)
Incident: Burglary
Burglary at 19970 Airline Hwy. location of Radio Shack. On 9-20-2006 at approximately 12:34am Deputies responded to an alarm at the prior listed location. Deputies observed the front door to the business was shattered. Deputies continued their investigation and discovered that a LG brand 32" LCD TV was missing from the store. The approximate value of the TV is $1,300.00. No other items appeared to be missing at this time. Dy. Brignac is investigating this incident under file # 06-63190. Incident: Second Degree Battery
Detectives interviewed the victim who stated that she was involved in a verbal argument with a unknown black male subject at the Shell gas station located at 11330 Coursey Blvd. The victim stated that during the course of the argument the black male subject spit on her and punched her in the face resulting in her injuries which were treated at a local hospital. The victim stated that the black male subject was driving a new model four door vehicle and there was a another unknown black male who was present with the subject and witnessed this battery.
On 09/15/2006 Detectives were able to obtain a copy of the surviellance video from the Shell gas station. From the still pictures from the video Detectives observed a white Chevrolet Impala, no license plate, being driven by the unknown black male subject.
On 09/16/2006 Det. Sgt. L. Moore located the suspect vehicle and present in that vehicle were two black males. During an interview with the accused identified as Justin Lomas DOB 6/27/80 Lomas admitted to striking the vicitm on 09/14/2006 at the Shell gas station.
The accused was transported to the parish prison where he was booked for Second Degree Battery.
Incident: Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Agg. Obstruction of an Hwy.
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Agg. Obstruction of an Hwy and Reckless Operation of a vehicle. On 9-18-2006 at approximately 8:00pm, Deputies responded to the intersection of Joor and Core Rd. in reference to an accident. Deputy Freeman began her investigation and discovered the driver of the 2000 Chevrolet Suburban had forced the driver of a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse off the roadway. The 17-year-old female driving the Mitsubishi regained control of the vehicle after she was forced into the ditch. The driver of the suburban identified as Kristen McLeod w/f 22 years of age bumped into the 17 year old several times until both parties pulled into the local business parking lot at this location. The accused got out of her vehicle advising the 17 year old and her two juvenile passengers they weren't the ones she was looking for. The accused advised she had an altercation with someone earlier this date and believed the occupants of the vehicle to be the subjects she was looking for. McLeod was booked into the parish prison on the abovementioned charges along with several traffic violations. No injuries were reported in this incident. Dy. Incident: Narcotics Arrest and Traffic Enforcement
On 9/14/06 Deputies with the S.C.A.T. Team, Narcotics & Armed Robbery and Burglary Divisions conducted criminal patrols in the Gardere and Glen Oaks area. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures :
1. Brandon Franklin- (Male 22) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.
2. Gregory Polard - (Male 24) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.
3. Justin Weber - (Male 18) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Drinking in a Motor Vehicle.
4. Joseph Hill - (Male 30) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Drinking in a Motor Vehicle, Headlights Required and No Driver's License.
5. Carl Parker - (Male 41) - Cited for Expired Inspection Sticker and No Driver's License.
6. Daemon Powers - (Male 21) - Cited for No Seatbelt.
7. Alex Howard - (Male 18) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Disturbing the Peace by Amplified Device.
8. Darius Philips - (Male 17) - Arrested for Loitering and Possession of Marijuana.
9. Henry Parker - (Male 27) - Arrested for Loitering and Possession of Marijuana.
Deputies seized approx. 81.2 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $406.00. Deputies also seized approx. 12.2 grams of suspected crack cocaine with a street value of $1220.00.
Incident: Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Resisting an Officer
At 0035 hrs. of Sunday, September 17, 2006, two (2) black males, armed with a dark colored revolver, robbed a female at gunpoint on the parking lot of the Chevron Station, 12924 Coursey Blvd. The two then fled in a dark blue, '94 Honda Civic. It might be noted that robberies involving individuals of similar description were currently under investigation by the Baton Rouge City Police, those robberies having occurred in the same general area (Sherwood Forest Blvd. near Coursey and Stumberg Lane), earlier in the evening.
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery Detectives, assisted by Sheriff's Office Uniformed Patrol personnel, first located the vehicle as it was proceeding in the area of Bluebonnet and Jefferson Hwy. The vehicle was subsequently stopped on Coursey Blvd., just east of Sherwood Forest Blvd.
Persons inside the vehicle who were placed under arrest were identified as follows :
1) Ron Hall, black male, DOB: 3/10/88 of 8301 Ned Ave., Baton Rouge, La.
2) Walden Dowell, black male, DOB: 5/01/88 of 1753 Starwood Ct., Baton Rouge, La.
3) Tyrice Harvey, black male, DOB: 12/01/85 of 8855 Coy Ave. apt. 3, Baton Rouge, La.
Hall and Dowell were both charged with Armed Robbery. Harvey was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and Resisting an Officer.
A fourth person was also arrested. That person was identified as the clerk of the Chevron Station, identified as Prince Howard, black male, DOB: 8/21/83 of 8393 W. Wadsworth Ave. Baton Rouge, La., who was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. Howard knew Ron Hall from Hall working at a nearby business and the two residing in the same area. Following the robbery on Stumberg Ln.(investigated by BRPD), Hall and Dowell stopped by the Chevron Station at which time they spoke with Howard who was working at the station. Howard suggested they rob customers at his station as it would be easy and also suggested that they rob a business on Highland Rd. where Howard had previously worked, noting that the clerk there would be easy to rob.
Baton Rouge City Police Armed Robbery Detectives assisted in the investigation and additionally charged Hall and Dowell for their involvement in the earlier robberies.
All of the suspects were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
