UPDATE ON BURGLARY AT GLEN OAKS MIDDLE SCHOOL

On 8-27-2006 Sgt. Roger Corcoran, Lt. David Blackwell and Cpl. Brent Travis with the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division continued the investigation into the burglary that occurred on 8-26-2006 at Glen Oaks Middle School. The damage to the school is estimated at $ 10,000.00 dollars. Through the Detectives efforts and cooperation from the public, the Detectives arrested seven juveniles ranging in age from 13 to 15 years of age for the damage and vandalism caused to the school. The juveniles were arrested and charged accordingly.

Burglary, Damage to Property, Vandalism and Theft at 5300 Monarch location of Glen Oaks Middle School. On 8-26-2006 at approximately 5:00 pm, Sgt. LeBaron was working an off duty security assignment for the EBR School Board when he was dispatched to an alarm at the prior listed school. No suspects were observed upon the Sgt's arrival. The Sgt. conducted a security check of the school and observed a window on the south side of Bldg. 300 had been pried open. The Sgt. continued his investigation and discovered that someone had caused extensive damage to rooms 501 thru 504. The Auditorium and Industrial Arts building had also been vandalized. Equipment had been damaged along with the fire extinguishers sprayed over the floors, windows broken, a sticky substance spread over the floor and equipment. Some of the items taken from the school were recovered a short distance from the school. Sgt. LeBaron is investigating the incident under file # 06-57290. Incident: Narcotics Arrest and Traffic Enforcement

On 8-23-06 , Deputies with the S.C.A.T. TEAM and Narcotics Division conducted criminal patrols in the Glen Oaks and Cherry Hill area. Deputies made the following arrests and seizures :

1. Marlon Hives - (Male 29) - Arrested for Drinking in Public,Resisting an Officer and Keeping a Disorderly Place.

2. Jermaine Knox - (Male 26) - Arrested for Flight from an Officer, Resisting an Officer and Unauthorized Vehicle on Public Roadway.

3. Dornell Tate - (Male 23) - Arrested for Possession of Marijuana.

4. Arthur Johnson - (Male 23) - Cited for No Seatbelt and No Driver's License.

5. Joseph Harris - (Male 18) - Arrested for Loitering.

6. Robert Brown - (Male 20) - Arrested for Loitering.

Deputies seized approx. 24.9 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $124.50.

Incident: Armed Robbery

Armed Robbery at 10455 Reiger Rd. location of Holiday Inn. On 8-26-2006 at approximately 2:31pm, two b/m subjects were observed arguing with an older white male near the rear of the hotel. During this time, a second victim was in the area and was approached by one of the b/m subjects. The b/m demanded the keys to the victim's car. The victim turned the keys over to the subject. While this was taking place, the second b/m was observed with a plastic bag contain a quantity of blue pills. The elderly w/m fled the area along with the two robbers. No injuries were reported. The robbers are described as 5'1" to 5'5" inches tall, approximately 130 pounds both subjects had gold teeth in their mouths. The first subject was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts with a low haircut. The second subject was wearing a white t-shirt with blue pants, black NY Yankees cap with a skullcap or du rag under it. The second subject was armed with a handgun. Dy. A. Slaughter and Cpl. Incident: Attempt 2nd. Degree Murder

Attempt 2nd Degree Murder at 8515 Greenwell Springs Rd. location of Greenway Billiard. On 8-26-2006 at approximately 1:15 am, Harold Cage 25 year old b/m was involved in an argument with another individual while at Greenway Billiards. Security officers for Greenway Billiards separated the subjects and escorted them outside of the building. The accused went to his vehicle and retrieved a small caliber handgun. The accused chased the victim, firing two shots at the victim. Security officers were able to detain the accused until sheriff's deputies arrived. The victim proceeded to a local hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound, the injury is non-life threatening. Dy. Freeman and Detectives took the accused into custody. Detective Fruge charged the accused with the prior listed offense. Harold Cage was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison accordingly. Dy. Freeman and Det. Fruge investigated the incident under file # 06-57134.

Incident: Attempted first degree murder

During the evening hours of Thursday, August 24, 2006, two separate persons operating vehicles northbound in the 13000 block of Hwy 61 reported shots fired at their vehicles. These shots originated from an unknown location. One of the vehicle drivers actually received a bullet wound to the head and was treated at a local hospital.

Investigators responded, combing the area for potential witnesses and other victims. During the course of an extensive investigation, Detectives determined that the four individuals listed below were shooting.22 cal rifles and pellet guns in the immediate area of Scenic Hwy.

The investigation also revealed that Kendrick Johnson, a male subject, 25 years of age actually fired the shots that struck the individual and vehicles. Further, it was determined that Johnson was accompanied by Jaworski Johnson, 19 years of age, Alex Johnson, 20 years of age, and Leonard Higginbotham, 18 years of age, all of whom were involved in the incident. The four individuals listed above were charged as follows:

Kendrick Johnson – 2 Cts. Attempt First Degree Murder

Leonard Higginbotham – 2 Cts. Principal to Attempt First Degree Murder

Jaworski Johnson – 2 Cts. Principal to Attempt First Degree Murder

Alex Johnson – 2 Cts. Principal to Attempt First Degree Murder

On 08/23/06, Lt. E. Boucher investigated an attempted armed robbery of the Subway, located at 7861 Hooper Road. A w/m later identified as Earnest Baggett 08/27/86 of 6245 Brownsfield and Kirkland Nelldell b/m 05/03/88 of 7884 Governor Wickliffe entered said business demanding money, while presenting a weapon and shooting into the floor. Baggett, then shot at a witness, as they fled the store in a blue Chevrolet Lumina. Once the vehicle description was given, Dy. L. Ealy recalled investigating a traffic crash involving said Lumina and provided an address from her previous investigation.

Lt. E. Boucher proceeded to the residence at 6245 Brownsfield, at which time the vehicle was located and the subjects fled out the rear of the residence to the wooded area and until they were later apprehended and then booked into the Parish Prison by Detectives Sgt. B. Welborn, Cpl. B. Travis and Det. K. Jackson.

On Tuesday, August 22, 2006 the EBRSO Narcotics division concluded an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of two subjects and the seizure of two pounds of marijuana. The arrest occurred in the 1500 block of Boreas Drive, Baton Rouge, LA. As a result of the investigation, Terrance Williams (b/m dob 11/8/1973) was charged with Principal to Distribution of marijuana and Donovan Keller (b/m dob 10/24/1984) was charged with distribution of marijuana and resisting an officer. They were arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison accordingly.

Deputies seized approx. 56.1 grams of suspected marijuana with a street value of $280.50.

Detectives are currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 5207 Essen Ln, the location of the Times Grill. At approximately 11:00pm, three b/m assailants entered the restaurant and committed an armed robbery. The three were armed with semi- automatic handguns and left the area in a light green Mitsubishi Galant that had dark tinted windows. As the vehicle left, witnesses noticed that it smoked heavily from the exhaust. Persons with information regarding this robbery are asked to call 389-5000.
