Incident: Armed Robbery

Armed Robbery at 12924 Coursey Blvd. location of the Jiffy Mart store. On 8-13-2006 at approximately 6:27 am, 2 b/m subjects entered the Jiffy Mart armed with a dark colored semi-auto handgun. The b/m's forced the clerks to open the office door and safe. The subjects took an undetermined amount of cash and a cell phone along with cigarettes and alcohol. The subjects were last seen fleeing on foot east bound on Coursey. The b/m's were 5'7" to 5'9" inches tall heavy set wearing striped shirts, layered clothing with jeans. One b/m was wearing a ski mask; the second b/m was wearing a grey cap and bandana. Dy. Brignac along with Cpl. Hill are investigating this incident under file # 06-53734. Incident: Attempted 2nd Degree Murder

Attempted 2nd Degree Murder at 13932 Poydras St. On 8-12-2006 at approximately 8:00 pm, Deputies responded to the 8800 block of Orleans in reference to a b/m being shot. Deputies upon arrival observed a 17-yoa b/m with a gunshot wound. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his wound. During the course of Deputies investigation, Detectives identified the suspected shooter as Emanual Hooker, 17 year old b/m. During the course of their investigation, Detectives contacted the accused at his residence in the 14000 block of Poydras St. The accused was arrested without incident. The accused was charged and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the prior listed charges. Detectives are investigating this incident under file # 06-53649.

Incident: Burglary

Burglary at 15255 George O'Neal Ln. location of CVS Pharmacy. On 8-12-2006 at approximately 4:34 am, Deputies responded to an alarm at the prior listed business. Deputies observed the front glass of the business had been shattered. Dy. B. Daigle along with other Deputies noted the door to the pharmacy was open. A representative from the store advised an unknown quantity of prescription drugs were taken. The quantity and type are unknown at this time. Lt. Blackwell along with Dy. Incident: Simple Robbery

Simple Robbery in the 7000 block of Greenwell St. On 8-11-2006 at approximately 4:53 pm, the victim, a 14-yoa b/m walked out of the rear door of the trailer where two juveniles met them. The juveniles punched the victim in the head and body. The juveniles took the victims cell phone and $ 1.95 dollars in cash. The juveniles were described as follows: First b/m juvenile was approximately 6'0" to 6'2" inches tall, medium build, light complexion with a low fade style haircut. Second b/m juvenile was approximately 5'6" inches tall, medium build, dark complexion with a low fade style haircut. The victim was not injured. Sgt. J. Incident: Armed Robbery

On Friday 8/11/2006 at 7:57am, three B/M's robbed the Circle K Store located at 1557 Gardere Ln. The suspects were in a small 4 door gray vehicle. Only two of the suspects entered the store. One of the suspects was armed with a small black handgun. This suspect asked the victim for all the money in the cash register. After receiving the money, the suspect entered the vehicle and was last seen traveling towards gardere lane. The victim described the suspects as B/M's 16-20 years of age. The suspect who was armed with the handgun, was said to be 6' tall, 166lbs, with a white t-shirt on his head, and wearing a long sleeve white t-shirt, and blue jean shorts. Incident: Simple Burglary, Felony Theft, Simple Criminal Danage to Property, and UUM

Continuing the investigation into a residential burglary in the 1300 block of Bullrush Dr., Detective S. Gallo of the Armed Robbery & Burglary Division booked one Eric Richardson (W/M, 08-21-1988) for Simple Burglary, Felony Theft, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle after it was learned that he committed these offenses. During this incident, the residence was burglarized and a television, a large amount of coins, as well as camping gear were stolen. It was also learned that Richardson damaged the walls of the residence and used a vehicle at that residence without the authorization of its owner before returning the vehicle. Prior to being booked into the EBR Parish Prison, it was determined that Richardson also committed Felony Simple Criminal Damage to Property and Felony Theft at a residence located in the 10700 block of Thistlewood Dr. During this incident, Richardson stole a gas blower, a gas weedeater, and damaged a vehicle that resulted in $586.90 worth of damages. The weedeater was later recovered and returned to the victim. Richardson was also charged with violating these crimes.

Continuing the investigation into a vehicle burglary and theft at 13605 Coursey Blvd., Detectives S. Gallo & Cpl. S. Hill of the Armed Robbery & Burglary Division executed an affidavit warrant on the accused subject, Chas Saucier (W/M, DOB: 08-02-1975). Saucier was already incarcerated in the EBR Parish Prison on unrelated charges and the charges of Simple Burglary and Felony Theft were added on him per the affidavit warrant.

On 08/07/06, approximately 10:00am Sgt. N. Bertrand worked an Attempted Simple Burglary Of An Inhabited Dwelling at 9248 Tracey, where one black male subject was observed to have made a forced opening into the residence, that caused damage, while accompanied by four others, but were scared off, prior to making entry. File #06-52243

During the course of the investigation Sgt. Bertrand observed that the same type of forced entryway was made at 9250 Tracey. File #06-52257

Incident: Burglary, Theft, Damage to Property and Traffic Violations

Burglary, Theft, Damage to Property and Traffic Violations. On 8-8-2006 at approximately 1:58 am, Deputies responded to an alarm at 11740 Airline Hwy. location of Pro Power. Deputies, upon arrival observed that the front door to the business had been pried open. Deputies were just begining their investigation when Sgt. D. Grunewald observed a 1994 Green Dodge pickup truck speeding in the area. Sgt. Grunewald attempted to stop the truck, but lost sight of the vehicle briefly. A short while later, Sgt. Grunewald observed the vehicle once again and initiated a traffic stop. During the course of the Sgt's investigation, the Sgt. observed two new portable generators sticking up above the bed of the truck. Deputies learned that the generators were stolen from the business on Airline Hwy. The generators had a value of over $ 1500.00 dollars. A representative from the store identified the generators and took possession of them. The Sgt. along with Dy. C. Foster and other assisting Deputies arrested Christopher Thomassie 39 year old w/m and Victor Chuites 42 year old w/m for the prior listed offenses. Cpl. Hill with the Burglary Division shall continue the investigation under file # 06-52442.

Incident: Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, Felony Theft

Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation to a residential burglary having occurred in the 11000 block of Lovett Road where property valued in excess of $4258.00 was stolen from the home.

During the course of the investigation, Detectives Sgt. Ken Jackson and Sgt. Billy Welborn of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division (ARAB) were able to identify one Phil Coleman, W/M, Dob 11/21/1967, as the perpetrator. An arrest warrant was issued for this individual.

Conducting a follow-up investigation into five (5) residential burglaries occurring in the Village Cote Neighborhood, reported under EBRSO file #'s 06-42619, 06-28087, 06-28099, 06-28008 and 28065 Sgt. Ken Jackson and Sgt. Billy Welborn of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division (A.R.A.B.), on 8/03/2006, arrested one black male juvenile.

During the course of the investigation, Detectives recovered assorted jewelry, a laptop computer and suspected marijuana and cocaine. Detectives have previously arrested two adult males for their involvement in the aforementioned crimes. The juvenile suspect was charged for two of the residential burglaries and the attempt burglary and was subsequently referred to Family Court.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.

Detectives are investigating a simple robbery that occurred at the Express One Stop located at 11330 Coursey Blvd. On August 6, 2006 at 8:45pm, a w/m entered the store and proceeded to the sales counter where he prepared to purchase some beer. As the clerk opened the cash drawer, the suspect reached into the drawer and took a hand full of money. The suspect then fled the store while thanking the clerk. The suspect is described as follows: w/m, approximately 30 years old, 5'4" tall, thin build, short brown hair and wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. The suspect fled the area in a tan colored Chevrolet Cavalier with four doors, possibly an early 2000 model. The vehicle had damage to the front end by the passenger side head light.
