Incident: Armed Robbery

Deputies are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 7: 00am on August 5, 2006. The robbery took place in a parking lot located in the 8100 block of Skysail Ave. Two male victims were approached by a b/m suspect who began speaking with them. While speaking, the suspect produced a silver colored handgun and robbed the victims. The suspect fled the area on foot. He is described as follows: light colored b/m, approximately 5'10" to 6' tall, thin build, close cut hair, heavy hair growth on his chin, with a tattoo of a tear drop outline under his left eye and a tattoo of an angel on his right forearm. Incident: Prostitution Arrests/Solicitation of Prostitution arrests

Investigator: EBRSO and BRPD Narcotics Divisions

On Thursday, August 3rd and Friday August 4th the EBRSO Narcotics Division along with the BRPD Narcotics Division conducted prostitution stings within the Parish of East Baton Rouge. The operation over the two nights resulted in the arrests of twenty-five subjects. Ten of the subjects were prostitutes and fifteen were subjects soliciting prostitution. A majority of the operations occurred in the area of 7100 Airline Hwy. near Victoria St. Following is a list of the subjects arrested during the two nights of the stings.

Incident: Simple Burglary Of A Business/ Theft

A burglary occurred at 1400 Airline Highway, the location of Mr. Lucky's. The burglary occurred between 08/02/06 10:00pm and 08/03/06 04:00am, where a subject(s) made forced entry into the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cigarettes and beer. Incident: Entering Contraband Into A Penal Institution/Possession Of Marijuana

On this date 8-2-06, at 15200 Old Scenic Highway,the location of Jetson Correctional For Youths. Deputy Abernathy apprenhended and booked correctional officer James Richardson b/m 1-2-59 of 3941 Gus Young Avenue, after a small bag of marijuana was found in his possession, while at Jetson. 06-51161

Incident: Bank Fraud; Theft-----$1,494.48

On July 31, 2006, Financial Crimes Division Detective Chenier, arrested Brena Gasaway for Bank Fraud and Theft (excess of $500.00). Brena Gasaway is alleged to have executed a scheme to defraud a financial instituion by depositing a worthless check into his business account and making subsequent withdrawals against the fraudulent funds thereby causing a financial loss of $1,494.48.

Note that Brena Gasaway has previously been arrested in reference to eight other similar incidents in which either himself or codefendant(s) would deposit worthless checks into an account controlled by Gasaway, after which withdrawals were made against these fraudulently established accounts prior to the checks being returned as worthless.

As of July 31, 2006, Brena Gasaway has committed this type of fraudulent activity against five separate financial institutions within East Baton Rouge Parish causing a combined loss of approximately $48,523.00.

Incident: Simple Burglary and Theft

On June 20, 2006, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a burglarized vehicle at the Greenwood BREC Park located at 13350 Hwy. 19 in Baton Rouge.

Deputies were directed to the burglary of a 2001 Chevrolet Pick-up Truck bearing Louisiana License W422653, where several items had been taken. This Burglary was handled under File number 06-40413.

On July 3, 2006, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office was again called to 13350 Hwy. 19 in reference to several more vehicles being broken into. A 2000 Honda CRV bearing Louisiana License NOF564 was burglarized and items were removed from within the vehicle. Also a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am bearing Louisiana License LVG196 was burglarized, but no contents had been taken from this vehicle. These two burglaries were handled under file number 06-43403.

On July 7, 2006, Officers from the Baton Rouge City Police Department arrested one Michael Thomas, black male D.O.B. 12-14-72, of 12239 Joe Louis Ct. Baton Rouge Louisiana, on an unrelated crime. Thomas was found to be in possession of property taken from the 2001 Chevrolet Pick-up Truck and the 2000 Honda CRV.

Continuing the investigation, on July 31, 2006, Auto Theft detectives Sgt. Mike Favaro and Lt. Brent Callender went to the Parish Prison and added the charges of L.R.S. 14:62 titled Simple Burglary (3 Counts) and L.R.S. 14:67 titled Theft (2 Counts) to Michael Thomas. The investigation continues.

Incident: Simple Criminal Damage To Property/ Illegal Use Of Weapons

A shooting occurred at 6625 Garland Avenue, between 8:30am 07/28/06 and 8:30am 07/31/06, where at least five rounds of ammunition was found, after piercing the trunk of a unoccupied Chevrolet Impala. Incident: Illegal Use of a Weapon

Illegal Use of A Weapon in the 16000 block of Missionary Ridge. On 7-31-2006 at approximately 3:00 am, Deputies responded to the prior listed location in reference to a domestic disturbance. While enroute to the location, Deputies were advised that a shot was fired from the residence. Deputies learned from a witness that the occupants of the apt. were arguing, the female left the residence with two children. After the subjects left, Kenneth Brandon Ruh w/m, 24 years of age stepped outside the apt. and fired one round into the ground from a 40 caliber S&W semi-auto handgun. Deputies arrested Ruh and recovered the weapon. The surrounding residences were check for possible injuries or damage, none noted. Dy. R. Shumate investigated the incident under file # 06-50452.

Incident: Burglary

Burglary at 7410 Bluebonnet location of World Ministry/Park Rowe. On 7-30-2006 at approximately 1:53 pm, Deputy Daigle responded to the prior listed location in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised two FEMA style trailers being used by Blackwater Security were broken into. One of the trailers had broken glass and bloodstains on the floor where the subject entering the trailer was apparently cut. No items were missing; the contents inside the trailer were in disarray. Incident: Theft of Trailer

Theft of Trailer at 10945 Reiger Rd. On 7-30-2006 Deputies responded to the prior listed address in reference to the theft of a trailer. The complaint advised a 20 foot V- Nosed enclosed red trailer with a diamond plated chrome front with a flat rear tire was missing from the construction site. The trailer was equipped with a front door and a rear drop back door. The trailer had a Texas license plate, license number not available at this time. The trailer was taken between 7-28-06 at 1:00 pm, and 7-30-06 at 7:00 am. The trailer contained approximately $ 100,000.00 dollars worth of construction equipment and tools. The trailer was parked in the grass at the construction site located to the left of the Hummer dealership. Dy. A. Genola is investigating the incident under file # 06-50260.
