Incident: Armed Robbery

Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the Shell Station located at 7111 Hooper Road. The robbery occurred at approximately 02:14pm, as the victim and his passengers stopped at the station to ask for directions. The victim was directed to the rear of the property by two black male subjects. Upon arrival, one of the suspects produced a handgun and the victims were robbed of their belongings. The suspects then left the area in a 1970's model vehicle that was light green in color. The suspects are described as follows.

SUSPECT #1: black male, dark complexion, heavy set, 5'8" tall, low hair cut, gold on his top teeth, age in the 30's.

SUSPECT #2: black male, thin to stocky build, 5' tall, a thin moustache and goatee, age in the 20's. Both suspects were wearing white shirts and dark pants.

An armed robbery occurred at approximately 12:34am in the 7000 block of Prescott Rd. The victim was driving east on Prescott when he was flagged down by the suspect and stopped. The suspect produced a handgun and ordered the victim from his vehicle. As the suspect was attempting to leave in the victim's vehicle, the victim attempted to remove his car keys. The suspect struck the victim with the gun and drove away. The victim was dragged by the vehicle and after being dislodged contacted law enforcement. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'10" tall, dark complexion, and wearing a white t-shirt. The vehicle that was taken is a 1993 Toyota Camry bearing Louisiana license plate OEZ987. Persons with information regarding this investigation are asked to call 389-5000.

Incident: Second Degree Murder

Detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred at 7185 Greenwell Street. At 05:20pm this date, deputies were summoned to the listed address in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival a 25y.o. male was found to have been shot multiple times and was deceased. The victim has been identified as Milton Jones, b/m, 25yoa. Mr. Jones lived at 7185 Greenwell Street #30. Mr. Jones had been involved in an argument with John Gettridge, b/m, 19yoa. Mr. Gettridge has a last know address of 15426 Blue Morning Dr., Houston, Texas. During the argument, Mr. Gettridge produced a handgun and shot Mr. Jones multiple times causing his death. Detectives have obtained an Affidavit Warrant of arrest for Mr. Gettridge for the crime of Second Degree Murder. Mr. Gettridge could possibly be occupying a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue, gold in color, Louisiana license plate MXJ682. Persons with information concerning the investigation or the whereabouts of Mr. Gettridge are asked to call 389-5000.

UPDATE

Detectives report that at approximately 12:00am, on 7/22/2006, John Gettridge was taken into custody by the Lafayette Police Department. Mr. Gettridge is currently located at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Jail, where he is awaiting return to East Baton Rouge Parish. The circumstances concerning the arrest of Mr. Gettridge are unknown at this time.

Incident: Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery

On July 20, 2006 at 7:30 pm Deputies Green and Byrd conducted a traffic stop at the 5700 block of Silverleaf. The vehicle was occupied by 4 black males, after the stop the males fled from the vehicle. Deputy Robinson subsequently caught one of the suspects who was a juvenile. Deputies found ski masks, gloves, a wig and a weapon, in the vehicle. Through an investigation deputies learned that the subjects were going to commit some robberies.

On July 20, 2006, Detective Cpl. Brent Travis of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, along with Cpl. Jeff Neyland and Dy. Mark Carrier of the Uniform Patrol Division/Burbank Substation, arrested one Lucas Love, White Male, DOB: 5/15/1987 of 1218 Elm Crest Dr., for the vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Country Club Of Louisiana on July 20, 2006. Cpl. Travis was also able to link Love to four other vehicle burglaries which occurred in the Briarwood Subdivision on July 15, 2006. Cpl. Travis recovered approx. $2,500.00 worth of stolen property that has been returned to the owners. Cpl. Travis recovered other stolen items, however, as of this time, has not located the owners of this property. Love was charged with the following vehicle burglaries.

Cpl. Travis booked Love into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Ten (10) Counts of Simple Burglary, Two (2) Counts of Theft of a Firearm, and Four (4) Counts of Felony Theft. Cpl. Travis is still investigating Love for other vehicle burglaries in the Southeast area of East Baton Rouge Parish.

Incident: Possession With Intent To Distribute Marijuana

On 7-21-06, at approximately 4:25am, Dy. D. Luckett, while on patrol, observed a blue colored vehicle parked at the car-wash in the 9800 block of Greenwell Springs Road. Upon further investigation, Dy. Luckett found Laquanna Rogers 08/15/82 of Rogers-Walls Lane, in Greensburg, La. asleep in her vehicle, where 36 grams of suspected marijuana was found. The accused was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, for Possession With Intent To Distribute Marijuana.

On July 19, 2006, Cpl. Brent Travis and Sgt. Ken Jackson of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, arrested Johnny Lee Early, black male, Dob:11/15/78 of 7526 Glen Oaks Dr. and Trenice Moore, black female, Dob: 12/1/79 of 6060 St. Katherine, for the Robbery of an individual which occurred on July 16, 2006, in the parking lot of the Target Shopping Center located at 6885 Siegen Ln. Johnny Early was charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery and Trenice Moore was charged with conspiracy to commit Armed Robbery, both of whom were already incarcerated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on unrelated charges.

On July 11, 2006, a theft of beer occurred at the Circle K store located at 12392 Plank Rd. (Brownsfield), during which a white male entered the beer cooler, grabbed two cases of beer and fled out the front door of the business without paying.

Through investigation, on July 12, 2006, Sgt. Mike Davis and Sgt. Roger Corcoran of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, determined the identity of the suspect and subsequently arrested a white male juvenile who resides in a trailer located in the 11000 block of Plank Rd. The juvenile was referred to Family Court charged with Theft.

Update

On Thursday, July 14, 2006, Sgt. Mike Davis of the Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division (A.R.A.B.) and Sgt. Mike Favaro with the Auto Theft Division, responded to 14644 Avalon Ave. located in Avalon Subdivision and met with a resident owner who had contacted the Sheriff's Office and advised that they had found two (2) motorcycles (dirt bikes) in their back yard. Detectives Davis and Favaro learned that both motorcycles had been stolen from a residence on Munal Dr. on the night of July 11, 2006. Theft report written under File #06-45722.

Through investigation, it was determined that Landon Edwards, white male, DOB: 8-2-87 of 14644 Avalon Ave. and Yordani Lazo'Figueredo, cuban male, DOB: 5-22-87 of 862 West Versailles Dr. were responsible for the thefts of the motorcycles.

Through subsequent investigation, Sgt. Corcoran and Sgt. Davis determined that the same two individuals had committed a vehicle Burglary and Attempted Theft in Avalon Subdivision during the night of July 11, 2006, at a residence located on Turret Ave.

On July 18, 2006, Detectives arrested Landon Edwards, white male, DOB: 8-2-87 of 14644 Avalon Ave. and Yordani Lazo'Figueredo, cuban male, DOB: 5-22-87 of 862 West Versailles Dr. Both were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison charged with the following:

On July 18, 2006, while continuing their investigation into residential burglaries in the southeast area of East Baton Rouge Parish, Cpl. Stephen Hill and Sgt. Billy Welborn of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, Byron C. Ball, black male, DOB: 2/14/1989 of 6555 Vinyard St., for 5 cts. Simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, 5 cts. Theft, 5 cts. Simple criminal damage to property and 1 ct. Illegal possession of stolen property. The file numbers for the crimes were 06-25266, 06-25268, 06-25280, 06-29553, 06-30531 and 05-77338. Ball was initially arrested on 06/15/2006 for 3 cts. Simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, 3 cts. Theft, and 3 cts. Simple criminal damage to property.

Continuing their investigation into vehicle burglaries which occurred on Hillmont Ave. on July 8, 2006, Cpl. Brent Travis and Sgt. Billy Welborn of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, as a result of their investigation, on July 12, 2006, arrested one Quincy C. Pierson, black male, DOB: 10/22/1988 of Jade Ave. (numerical not available). Pierson, who was incarcerated at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, was criminally charged with two (2) cts. Simple Burglary and one (1) ct. of Theft.

On Monday, July 17, 2006, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Narcotics Detectives concluded an investigation of distribution of Ecstacy and Marijuana within East Baton Rouge Parish. The arrest and seizure occurred in the 3000 block of Lone Oak, Baton Rouge LA. The investigation culminated in the seizure of approximately 3.1 pounds of Marijuana, 836 doses of Ecstacy, a .38 caliber Taurus handgun, and $8,653.00 of drug proceeds. Total street value of drugs seized is approximately $28,400.00. This seizure resulted in the arrest of Audrey Vanner (b/m, dob – 09/22/1979). Vanner was charged with Possession with intent to distribute Marijuana and ecstacy, and Possession of a firearm with CDS. Vanner was subsequently booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison accordingly.

Incident: Missing Person

On Monday, July 17, 2006, uniform patrol deputies assigned to Central substation responded to a complaint of a missing person from 23131 Carson Road. The complainant was the wife of Lee Kelly (W/M dob - 08/31/1933). Complainant informed deputies that Mr. Kelly has Alzheimers and that he drove away from the residence in a 2001 Gold Chevrolet p/u truck bearing Louisiana license plate number H202223. Mr. Kelly is discribed as being approximately 5'9" and 180 pounds with gray hair. If anyone comes into contact with this subject please contact the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office at 389-5000.

On Monday, July 17, 2006 uniform patrol deputies, working at Kleinpeter substation, responded to a complaint of criminal trespass and simple battery in the 16000 block of Tigerbend Road. Upon arrival deputies made contact with the complainant who advised that he heard his dogs barking and proceeded into his backyard to investigate as to why the dogs were barking. Once outside two male subjects struck the complainant to the ground where he suffered injuries to his face. The complainant was unable to give a description of his attackers and informed deputies that the two males subsequently fled on foot. The complainant was treated at Oschner for the injuries suffered to his face. This investigation is ongoing.

On Monday, June 17, 2006, uniform patrol deputies assigned to Kleinpeter substation responded to 741 Hammond Manor, where the complainant informed deputies that she had been robbed at gunpoint. Upon initial investigation it was learned that the female was outside her apartment at which time two b/m's wearing white t-shirts, dark jeans, and ski masks directed her to enter her apartment. One of the b/m's was in possession of what appeared to be a .22 caliber pistol. Upon entering the apartment, the b/m's demanded that she and the other occupant at the apartment give them all of their money. Once obtaining $141.00 from the female and the other occupant of the apartment, the two b/m's fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. This case has been forwarded to the ARAB division. Investigation is ongoing at this time.

On Thursday, July 13, 2006, Sgt. Roger Corcoran and Sgt. Mike Davis of the Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery and Burglary Division (A.R.A.B.), responded to Avalon Subdivision and met with Sheriff's Uniform Patrol Deputies Otto Harshbarger and James Poe who had been dispatched to a residence in the subdivision where a burglary of a vehicle and theft of a bicycle had occurred on the night of July 11, 2006, reported under file # 06-45743. Detectives were advised that the residence owner had observed two white males riding his son's bicycle, which he had reported stolen. The residence owner stopped the two individuals and contacted the Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Corcoran and Sgt. Davis, through investigation, determined that the two individuals had committed six (6) vehicle burglaries in Avalon Subdivision during the night of July 11, and had also stolen two (2) children's bicycles. Detectives arrested Landon Edwards, white male, DOB: 8-2-87 of 14644 Avalon Ave. and Yordani Lazo'Figueredo, cuban male, DOB: 5-22-87 of 862 West Versailles Dr. Both were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison charged with the following:

Detectives are at this time looking for the owner of a girl's bicycle which was recovered during the investigation. The bicycle is believed to have been stolen from a residence in this same area off Millerville Rd. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are expected.

Update

Continuing their follow-up investigation of the Attempted Armed Robbery and Aggravated Battery of an individual which occurred on July 11, 2006, at 6630 Siegen Ln., Cpl. Brent Travis and Sgt. Billy Welborn of the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division, on July 13, 2006, arrested one Eric D. Coleman, black male, DOB: 1/29/1987 of 6630 Siegen Ln., apt. #47. Coleman was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the aforementioned charges.

On July 13, 2006, Det. David Verbois of the Pawn Shop Section recovered a Honda Lawn Mower and a Bolens Edger from Cash America Pawn Shop #1, 7855 Airline Highway. The Lawn Mower and Edger were taken from a residence on Ponderosa Dr. on April 28, 2006, the theft subsequently reported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. Detectives Verbois and Welborn added criminal charges of two (2) cts. of theft to Desrie Fagot, white female, DOB: 9/06/1966 of 13047 Florida Blvd. apt. #80, who was incarcerated at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. The lawn equipment was returned to it's owner.
