Accidental Shooting in the 12200 block of Troy Street. On 9-13-2006 at approximately 8:30 pm, Deputies responded to the ER at a local hospital in reference to a 15-yoa b/m with a gunshot wound. Cpl. Washington along with Detectives Banta and Stewart responded to the hospital to investigate the incident. Deputies learned that the b/m found a .22 caliber rifle in a wooded area in this neighborhood. The victim was walking with the rifle playing with it, when the rifle discharged wounding the victim. The wound was non-life threatening. The victim took Detectives to the location of the rifle. The rifle was recovered and stored by Crime Scene Specialist Freeman. The victim was turned over to the custody of his mother. Deputies from Scotlandville Substation along with Detectives investigated this incident under file # 06-61688.
