- Good moral character
- No experience required, on the job training
- 18 years of age or older
- Clear driving record
- Valid LA driver's license
- Arrest free (including misdemeanors)
- High school graduate or have a GED certificate

| Duties and Responsibilities: |
- Work with children on a daily basis.
- Learn traffic regulations pertaining ONLY to school zones and the children crossing the streets.
- Establish and maintain effective relations with the school children and pubic.
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times, following the appropriate dress code.
- Maintain prompt attendance and perform duties even in inclement weather.
- Provide for the safety of all school children at designated school crossings near designated elementary schools.
- Escort children across the street going to and from school.
- Help to prevent children from crossing the street during heavy traffic flow until it is safe to cross.
- Report license numbers of cars who fail to slow down near school zones, or who fail to stop for children when signaled to do so.
- Familiarize himself/herself with the location and purpose of street traffic signs (such as school signs and speed signs) within the assigned areas.

| Work Environment: |
While preforming the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to hold signs and to direct children during school hours crossing streets. The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, preipheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. |
