Bryan S. Clemmons
Died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, July 5, 1976, at Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital in Natchez, Miss. He was 69, a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He was East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff for 24 years, from 1948 to 1972, and was a past president of the National and Louisiana Sheriffs associations and the Louisiana Peace Officers Association. He was also a member of a number of other organizations in the field of law enforcement, and was director of the East Baton Rouge Unit, Louisiana chapter, National Society for Crippled Children and Adults. Body at Rabenhorst Funeral Home with visiting from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Religious services at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel conducted by Dr. Woodrow Hearn. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Catherine P. Clemmons; son Deputy Sheriff J. Bryan Clemmons; and three grandchildren, all of Baton Rouge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund or to a charity of one's choice. Member of Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1083; Jerusalem Temple Shrine, 33rd Degree Mason; Baton Rouge Consistory; Baton Rouge No. 372 Free and Accepted Masons; North Baton Rouge Lions Club; Elks Club; and was awarded the legion of merit by International Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay. Masonic rites in the cemetery. He was a past president of the FBI National Academy Association. Pallbearers and honor guard will be deputies of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart Fund or to a favorite charity.
