EBRSO Charges Man in Shooting Death of Teenager

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Detectives responded to a call of a shooting at 4747 Southpark Drive at approximately 12:55 p.m. in which one teenager was hit.

Darius Plummer, 16, of 11585 North Harrell's Ferry was transported from the scene, but later died as a result of his injuries.

Detectives developed a suspect in the shooting and determined he fled the area. Detectives notified the Louisiana State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Louisiana State Police Troop D of the suspect's identity and possible location. LSP Troop D located and apprehended the suspect on I-10 in Lake Charles at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Octavio Bringas, (3/22/67), of 4747 Southpark Drive is charged with Second Degree Murder.

Bringas told a relative that he was playing with a gun when it discharged striking Plummer. He said that he was not coming back and would not talk with police. He was booked as a fugitive into Calcasieu Correctional Center and will be transported to East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the aforementioned charges.
