EBRSO Makes Four Arrests for Stolen Credit Cards

On April 18, 2016 the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office received a call for assistance from the Academy Sports, located at 10808 Industriplex.  During this call a representative of Academy reported that several subjects were inside of the store using counterfeit credit cards.

Upon arriving at Academy Sports members of the Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol, Retail Theft Unit, and Financial Crimes Detectives were able to locate and arrest 4 four Cuban Nationals who were in possession of 23 counterfeit credit cards.
During the subsequent investigation Detectives were able to search the vehicle that was used by the 4 suspects.  During this search an additional 155 counterfeit credit cards were located.  Detectives also located $4000.00, worth of gift cards that were obtained when the suspects returned the items that they purchased using the counterfeit credit cards.  Detectives also recovered $3500.00 worth of items that were purchased using the counterfeit credit cards.

All four were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for violating Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:67 (Theft) and 14:72.2 (Monetary Instrument Abuse).
