EBRSO Arrests Teacher for Sex with Student

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a local teacher today for allegedly raping one of his students.

Robert M. Lewis, 30, of 1054 Meadow Glen Avenue is charged with Forcible Rape and Prohibited Sexual Conduct Between Educator and Student.

According to affidavit reports, Lewis allegedly attended a school function with one of his 17-year-old students on November 7, 2014. Lewis, the band director, allegedly gave the student a ride home from the function. Lewis allegedly made sexual advances toward the student, at which time she stated she pushed him away. Lewis brought her home, and the student allegedly began texting Lewis. The student's parents went out of town on November 29, 2014 when Lewis allegedly brought food to the student. Lewis allegedly initiated sex, but the student told him no, but Lewis allegedly continued to have sex with the 17-year-old. Lewis then allegedly met the student at her residence while her parents were not home to watch a movie on December 5, 2014. The student stated on this date the two had consensual sex.

Lewis was booked into EBR Parish Prison this evening on the above listed charges.
