EBRSO Apprehends Regions Bank Robber



UPDATE: O’Neal Bank Robber Apprehended

EBRSO detectives, with the assistance of the Tangipahoa and Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Offices, apprehended Mathis last night in Hammond, LA after receiving a tip. Mathis was booked into Tangipahoa Parish Prison as a fugitive from EBR.

Detectives received a CrimeStoppers tip identifying the bank robbery suspect as 46-year-old William Mathis originally from Albany, Louisiana but believed to currently be in Florida. Mathis is wanted for First Degree Robbery. Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact the Sheriff's office at 389-5064 or CrimeStoppers anonymously at 344-STOP.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Detectives are looking for a man that robbed the Regions Bank located on 2121 Oneal Lane today at approximately 3:40 p.m.

According to witnesses a white male entered the business and handed the teller a slip with a note demanding money.

The teller handed the perpetrator an undisclosed amount of currency, and he fled the scene driving a red- colored Ford F250 truck headed north-bound on Oneal Lane towards I12.

The perpetrator was described as follows;

White Male
mid 40's to mid 50's in age
between 6'0 and 6'2 in height
medium build
brown hair and mustache
last seen wearing a denim blue long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans
