The School Drug Task Force responded to a call today at approximately 12:30 p.m. to Westdale Heights Elementary, 2000 College Drive, in reference to a gun found on the floor of a 5th grade classroom. The unloaded weapon was a .25 caliber handgun and did not have a magazine in it. All the students in the class were searched and questioned, though it is unclear where the weapon came from. This incident is still under investigation.
The School Drug Task Force is a multi-agency unit made up of East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputies and Baton Rouge Police Officers.
