EBRSO Arrests Two Men in Homicide

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives, assisted by Louisiana State Police detectives, arrested two men for a shooting that occurred Thursday evening at approximately 11:10 p.m. at 16524 George O’neal Lane in which one man died.

Ivan Molina, 38, of 16524 George O’Neal was transported to a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds and later died as a result of his injuries.

Byron Joseph Maxson, 26, of 4949 Stumberg is charged with Second Degree Murder and Illegal Use of Weapon. EBRSO Detectives booked Maxson into Parish Prison yesterday evening.

Troy Lemond Carter Jr., 26, of 16053 Norwick Ave. is also charged with Second Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon. EBRSO detectives, assisted by Louisiana State Police detectives, worked through the night and apprehended Carter early this morning in Hammond. Detectives will transport Carter to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, and then transport him to EBR Parish Prison. Booking photo is not yet available.

According to reports, Molina responded to a knock at his door Thursday evening, and exited his residence. Witnesses heard multiple gunshots, and shortly after found Molina struck by gunfire. Molina was transported to the hospital and later died. Maxson and Molina are known acquaintances with an ongoing dispute. This incident is still under investigation.
