What is TRIAD?
A TRIAD is an agreement between the American Assosication of Retired Persons (AARP), the International Associations of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the National Sheriff's Association (NSA). The partnership enables the three above agencies to work together to reduce criminal victimization of seniors and to enhance law enforcement services to older citizens.
What is S.A.L.T?
A S.A.L.T. Council is TRIAD on the community level. A S.A.L.T. Council is a group composed of seniors, local law enforcement agencies and senior organizations. The S.A.L.T. Council determines the needs of the community's senior population and creates activities to address these needs.
Mission:
- To educate the senior community on crime prevention.
- To advocate for the needs of the senior community.
- Develop solutions for the needs of the senior community.
- Assist with developing activities and programs that benefit the senior community.
Accomplishments:
- Crime prevention programs.
- Free senior citizen educational programs.
- Transported low income seniors to area businesses.
- Public information flyers.
- Emergency information cards.
- SALT senior surveys to the East Baton Rouge, Zachary and Baker areas.
- Fraud prevention articles in local newspapers.
How do I get involved?
Attend on of the bi-monthly meetings on the third Friday of January, March, May, July, September and November at:
